GEORGE TOWN: Police arrested a 34-year-old man after admitting to pushing his wife out of the window of their 18th-floor condominium, which resulted in his death.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said he received a call from MERS 999 indicating that a woman fell from a condominium in Ayer Itam on Saturday April 10.
“The Forensic Laboratory Division (D10) of Penang Police Headquarters and the K9 unit attended the scene.
“The investigation revealed that the victim, a 35-year-old insurance agent, was the suspect’s wife.
ASP Soffian said during preliminary questioning, the suspect admitted to pushing his wife out of the window in the living room of the unit after a fight with her.
“The man suspected his wife was having an affair.
“They had been married for about a year but had no children,” he said in a statement on Sunday April 11.
ASP Soffian said police arrested the suspect and confiscated two cell phones, a bottle containing pieces of crystal and a plastic bag containing dried leaves believed to be drugs.
“The suspect also tested positive for marijuana. A post-mortem examination was carried out at Penang hospital on April 10.
“The cause of death was due to multiple injuries corresponding to a fall from a height,” he said.
The suspect will be remanded in custody for six days until April 15 and the case is under investigation under article 302 of the Criminal Code for murder.
