Parent of a student who died during a demonstration in a dormitory

TWO family members of a student from Tamil Nadu started a sit-in outside the college entrance after she was found dead in a dormitory.

Makkal Osai reported that the police had been deployed to the Chennai School of Nursing.

Apparently, the second-year student at the Chennai-based nursing school had taken her own life.

A similar protest last month by the family of a deceased private school student turned into a full-blown riot.

Buses and police vehicles were torched while the school was also attacked by rioters leading police to fire warning shots.

Fearing a repeat, police were quickly deployed to the college in Tamil Nadu to prevent any escalation.
